Shrinkvivor - Weigh-In #3

It is now the end of week 2 in our Shrinkvivor challenge and I think Tribe Navy Seals knocked it out of the park this week.  I am so proud of my tribe for all the exercise minutes they logged and fast food they didn't eat!  Way to go Navy Seals!

So how did this tribe member do?  Let's take a look at the numbers:

Weight on June 23, 2009: 165.8
Challenge Starting Weight: 141.6
Last Week's Weight: 141.0
This Week's Weight: 139.4

This is my LOWEST RECORDED WEIGHT WITH THE SISTERHOOD!!!!!!!!!

Change This Week: down 1.6
Change for Shrinkvivor Challenge: down 2.2
Total Pounds Gone: 26.4

And the Challenge?  I logged 500 minutes of exercise and drank TONS of water (I didn't keep track of the water, but would hazard to guess it was at least 100 oz every day).

To say I'm happy with how I did this week would be an understatement.  I hope with all the minutes my tribe logged and the fantastic losses we've all had that we are safe from tribal council.  If not, I will be very sad to see one of us go (who knows, it might be me!).  Even if I'm voted out this week, I'll still be cheering my Navy Seal girls on to victory.

True Confessions

This is going to be super quick so please excuse the bullet points and lack of frills.
  • I've been outstanding with my workout minutes.  I have 500 since Thursday morning.  (I was at 496 but then did 4 minutes of crunches to be at a nice, even number.)
  • I've been drinking TONS of water.
  • I have avoided the drive thru (for me-the kids did have Wendy's one day).
  • I ran 10 miles on Saturday and walked around afterwards for 3 hours!!!!
  • I have not really logged my food, but I have been keeping a "mental tally" and I think I've done well.
  • My only really *bad* day was Sunday.  I woke up RAVENOUS from all of Saturday's exercise and had to force myself not to eat my way through the refrigerator.  I ate a cookie at church during bible study.  I ate a healthy lunch (veggie burger).  I didn't eat dinner - the time got away from me with grocery shopping, getting kids to a party and then back to church for confirmation class (hence the Wendy's for them).  We were invited over to a friend's after the kids got done with church for some wine and a fire.
    • *Dinner* around the fire was 5 or 6 toasted marshmallows.
    • I drank 1/2 a bottle of wine and then was *persuaded* to try some Sambuca.  DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DO THIS.
    • I paid for said mistake all day on Monday.
There are my confessions.  Other than Sunday's night-time disaster, I think I did really well.  The scale may or may not reward me tomorrow.  Probably not (I don't feel any smaller), but the scale isn't everything.

Shrinkvivor - Weigh In #2

Shrinkvivor Challenge at the Sisterhood!

It's the end of week 1 in our Shrinkvivor challenge and it's time to see how Tribe Navy Seals did, or at least this member!

So now onto the numbers:
Weight on June 23, 2009: 165.8
Challenge Starting Weight: 141.6
Today's Weight: 141.0
Change This Week: down .6
Change for Shrinkvivor Challenge: down .6
Total Pounds Gone: 24.8

I'm down but definitely not as much as I thought I would be. I did amazing on mileage last week. Between Monday and Sunday, I ran 17 and walked 4 miles! I also drank an obscene amount of water (between 80 and 120 oz each day except Sunday-fail) and ate very well. As my friend Karena said, "the scale is fickle". Sometimes it's going to be nice to us and sometimes we are going to want to chuck it out the window. At least I had a loss. I should be happy about that.

True Confession Tuesday: My Eyeballs Are Floating

True Confessions

This edition of True Confession Tuesday is being brought to you by my water bottle.  Excuse me while I make another trip to the bathroom.
  • I've always been good about getting in my water (at least 80 oz a day is typical), but with our water challenge going on, I'm getting closer to 100 oz now.  I seriously think my eyeballs are getting a little loose and floaty in my head.
  • I logged 21 miles on dailymile last week.  17 of that was running and 4 was walking.  Did you hear me?  I LOGGED 21 MILES LAST WEEK! (Only 12.5 has counted for our mileage challenge, but still!)
  • So far this week because the stupid site goes back to zero on Mondays and I've been sick I'm sitting on a big 'ole goose-egg.  I hate the zero Monday.  Drives me up a freaking wall, but it also motivates me to erase that zero as quickly as possible.
  • I listened to my body this week and went to see my doctor about the breathless feeling I've had for over a week now.  She ordered a chest xray and some other tests, as well as an inhaler.
  • I've only used the inhaler once because it scares me a little. I plan to use it if I feel up to running tomorrow.
  • I'm trying not to stress too much about missing a relatively long run today (I was supposed to do 60 minutes, or about 5.5-6 miles, but there was no way that was happening if I couldn't breathe).  I must get/stay healthy for my 10 miler this weekend and my 1/2 mary on 10-17-10.
  • My MIL is staying with us for awhile (1-2 weeks) since having surgery.  I'm trying to stay positive and not stress about the issues we are having with the food choices in the house.  I'll be shopping later so she can have some stuff that she likes.
  • I feel a little weird about working out with her there.  I don't know why.  She thinks all the running I do is crazy which it probably is and maybe I don't want her to be critical of me.  I'm thinking the Tworkout is out of the question while she's there.  That would just be weird.  I have no idea how I could explain it so she'd understand.
  • I've done really well with making healthy food choices and even logged food on dailyplate most days this week.
  • With all the mileage, water, and good food choices, the scale does not appear to have budged at all.  That frustrates me, even though I know being healthy isn't all about the scale.  We are in a weight-loss challenge right now and I've been at this plateau far too long.  (On a positive note, my doctor commented on how much weight I've lost and the radiology tech called me "tiny" cuz she had a hard time lining me up for the side view xray.)
  • I've really enjoyed "meeting" some new friends through Shrinkingjeans this week.  My Tribe Navy Seals teammates-they freaking ROCKED the mileage challenge this week.  Seriously.  I don't know where they get the time or energy.  I love you girls!

SCPM: 9-18-10

Pretty uneventful day in the Shrinking Chick household.  Training run, errands, and a visit to Mike's mom in the hospital (she's doing much better and will probably come home - to our house for a few days - on Monday).  Go ahead and click on the image to take a peek at my day.  (And for the record, I've lost quite a bit of weight, but I'm not THAT tiny-the image is really squished in-LOL-it's like a fun house mirror.)

Shrinkvivor Challenge - Starting Weigh-In

Shrinkvivor Challenge at the Sisterhood!

Those fabulous ladies (and gent) at the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans are at it again.  Today marks the start of our newest weight loss challenge: Shrinkvivor!  I am blessed to be a member of Tribe Navy Seals!
Here's the rest of my tribe:
Alicia M.
Dolly D.
Gerrie S., @shaeffermom
Jacquie G.
Jennifer M.
Kelly W., @pigtailmomma

Jennifer suggested the name Navy Seals because they are some of the toughest, smartest, baddies on the planet.  A few of their mottos:  "The only easy day was yesterday", "Lead, follow, and never quit", "Accelerate your life".  Yeah, I'm feeling it!

So now onto the numbers:
Weight on June 23, 2009: 165.8
Challenge Starting Weight: 141.6
Change This Week: N/A
Change for Shrinkvivor Challenge: N/A
Total Pounds Gone: 24.2

As you can see, I have a 25 pound button sitting over there on the left side of this blog.  I seem to keep hovering right around that 140-ish mark.  I managed to get into the 130's by my 40th birthday last month, but then a trip to Disney popped me back up.  So, for the next 7 weeks, I'd like to work on these goals:
  • Drink tons of water
  • Log my food and exercise at Daily Plate (a very cool iphone app-go get it if you don't have it already)
  • Continue training for my 1/2 Marathon (which is now just over 1 month away)
  • Up the strength training once the 1/2 is over
  • Get to 138 pounds

True Confession Tuesday: School's Back In Session

True Confessions

School is back in full force here in Michigan (we don't officially start with kids until after Labor Day-I know a lot of you have been back in the groove for several weeks already and I will curse you all in June when you are all playing in the sun and I'm sweltering in a classroom).  The resulting upset of our summer routine is the main reason for my confessions:
  • The start of the school year always means major adjustments to our schedule and changes in routine.  My 1/2 marathon is a mere 32 days away.  That is just over a month to stay on track and stay healthy.  I've missed a few auxiliary workouts (strength and cross trainings).
  • I've managed to get all my runs in, including my Longest.Run.Ever.  Hubs and I clocked 8 miles in 1:26:08 in the POURING RAIN last weekend.  Wanna feel like a bad ass?  Run 8 miles in the rain.  Trust, it works.
  • I added some serious hill training to my repertoire today.  After school and when K got done with volleyball practice, I ran almost 6 miles in an hour.  With several good rolling hills along the route. Ouch.
  • I've discovered I really don't like running next to the road, even if it's on a running path or sidewalk.  Exhaust is nasty.  I'm still coughing and clearing my throat.
  • The start of the school year, with multiple sports schedules and K often double booked between gymnastics and volleyball, I've eaten more fast food than I should have.
  • I made a pork roast in the crock pot this week which was my dinner last night and will be dinner again tonight.  A little more sodium than I should have (hello, bloat) but it's still better than a Big Mac and fries and McDonald's.
  • I'm sure there is more that I should confess, but my brain hasn't started working yet after my run and I'm seriously low on blood sugar and the moment.
  • I'm signed up for the next challenge from shrinkingjeans: Shrinkvivor!  Can't wait to get down with Tribe NAVY Seals.  You know what a bunch of bad asses those Seals can be!
So there's my confessions.  How'd you do this week?  Spill and then link up with shrinkingjeans!

SCPM: Some Spectating, Some Running, Some Meeting Up

I can't believe I haven't posted since last weekend's cell phone mosaic.  Guess that's what the first official week of school and no current challenges at Shrinkingjeans will do to your plans. LOL. Don't worry, though.  Those crazy gals (and guy) over at Shrinkingjeans will be putting us through our Shrinkivivor paces starting this week!

I do have a little mosaic from this Saturday.  I finally got to watch one of my best girlfriends compete in her passion-the triathlon, got in a great run of my own, and got to meet a new girlfriend, Melissa!  It was a fun, but very exhausting day.  I'm spending today recovering.  So how was your weekend?  Snap some shots and link up with Mendie!

SCPM: Labor Day Weekend Edition

Hey everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying a nice, long holiday weekend.  The weather up here has definitely turned to fall.  Saturday was really quite cold and we were scrambling to find warmer clothes to wear!  My day started off with NO RUN since I ran 6 miles on Friday.  After our usual morning routine and some emergency school-shopping for the boy, we headed up to my sister and BIL's cottage for a visit.  We had a great time and the kids got to have s'mores around the campfire before we headed back home.  What could be better?  I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into my day!  Link up with Mendie and let us know what you did this weekend!

Wednesday Check-In: D&D in 30 Final Weigh-In

Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans

It's Wednesday again, which means it's time to hit the scales (well, not literally-unless you really WANT to) and see how we did on the weight-loss front this week.  I've been working hard since returning from vacation and it has paid off.  While I haven't lost all the Disney Debauchery weight, I've come pretty close.

Here are my stats for the week:
Weight on June 23, 2009: 165.8

Challenge Starting Weight: 141.6
Last week: 143
This week:  140.2
Change:  down 2.8
Total Pounds Gone: 25.6
Change for the D&D Challenge: down 1.4

My overall change for the challenge was not great because of vacation, but I met some amazing and PHABULOUS women as part of Team Phab.  I even managed to lose weight after my girl's weekend with Mendie and Brooke this past weekend.  Squee!

My 1/2 marathon training continues in full force.  This week I had 2 of my best runs ever!  Tonight after school yes, school is back in session for the teachers with the kids starting next week and I'm in complete and total twitter withdrawal and freaking out about switching my training to the evenings I have my speed workout and then on Friday or Saturday another 6 miler.  So far, I haven't run any record distances for me, but my speed and recovery continue to get quicker.  To say I'm not scared about the big jumps in the long run over then next few weeks would be a total lie.  I'm scared.  Shaking in my Asics scared.  It's knowing I have such a great group of friends cheering me on is what keeps me going-so thanks!

So how did everyone else do this week?  Did you shrink a little too?  Link up with shrinkingjeans and let us know!

Happy New Year 2020

It looks like my M.O. is to open this blog when I get the notification the domain name renewed. LOL oh well. I hope everyone is having a n...
